A77 Video Test
« on: November 17, 2012, 01:05:05 AM »
Hello all,
I've been on hiatus for a while but I want to let you all know that I still continue to shoot video with my a77.
Here is a quick and dirty  example. :)

I'll will be directing Manny Pacquiao v. Marquez events this December and will be using the a77 personally along
with a few Arri Alexas. Although I might purchase a FS700 or Canon C500 by then.

Cheers All!

Tony

Like the rodeo theme video. The camera looks like it did a good job in low light.

Thanks

Clive

I'm wrapping up the National Finals Rodeo Promo right now and should have work up soon. It's tough to do motion graphics, audio, edit, and shooting with just me.. lol the economy has been tough and can't afford a visual effects guy.
Last year I didn't touch a camera much at all. I can't afford to sit back in the directors chair anymore.. boo

Cool !
I can't wait to get my a99 next week (upgrade from a900) and try some video (new for me !).
Do you use Final Cut Pro? If so, can I start with iMovie and then go upscale, or should I start with FCP (i.e. are both integrated like iPhoto and Aperture today ?).
Are there any sites you recommend to get started?
Cheers
Marc

Hi Mark, You can start in Imovie if you are just starting out. Then move onto FCP when you feel more comfortable with editing. Essentially a cut is a cut on from I Movie to Avid Editing Bays. I have made full switch to Adobe Premiere CS6 since it is the most DSLR friendy application to me. I also work in Adobe After Effects allot and love the integration.  I'm sure you are going to love the a99 as I love the a77 for what I do. I'm ordering an FS100 for more narrative work but keeping the a77 for my go to all around cam. I usually go to DVXuser forums for most of my information. There are several sites out there for beginners such as www.learningdslr.com.  I suggest going to dvxuser and go to the editing forum sections. Tons of tips. If you have any questions feel free to email me at Tony@bigcapproductions.com I'm a people person so love making new friends to share the passion with.

Here is the latest job for Nation Finals Rodeo Event.. tough part was Shooting, Editing, Grading, Sound, Graphics to be all done and delivered in 24 hours. So essentially 72 hours no sleep. If the economy wasn't so bad I would have hired a crew.
