I think using cryptic clues is a good way forward.  I'm useless at crosswords, so any practice is useful  :D

So the clue is "mixer" :)

I don't know why, but something ells me it's to do with milk?  Or more general farming.  Maybe cos' you live in lovely Devon :)  And it's old.

Ohhh, Rob - please send up some Devon Clotted Cream, Strawberry Jam and Scones  :)

Ooops, looks like Clive already got it!

Over to you then clive !

The older ones had pewter tops, i have around 35 soda syphons in all, some from 1880. All with pub names or beer/wine merchants advertising logo's etched into them,
Does the one you have have anything etched into it

Cool. Thx.

I'll need some time. Later this evening ... morning for the rest of you.

Rob...I doubt if dad still has his. If I remember I'll ask him as I'm driving up to his home on Sunday. I expect it was sold at a garage sale years ago. You never know. I recall it from the fifities...when I was a tad.

I do not recall anything on dad's 'seltzer' bottle.

I knew I'd seen that "trigger" before.

Later,

Clive

I've split this topic up as it was monstrously large!

Continued in part II and then part III
