I have never seen one of these before I had no idea what it was called. Had to ask my mum what it was before posting.. she said it was a Gourd, and added "you can't eat them, it's an ornamental vegetable".  Ornamental vegtable what's the point in that!? lol

So it must be the leg or the "antler" of a mosquito (had to choose the obvious one)

I am still pondering the meaning of a pest. For mosquitoes are a pest, but they are very valuable bugs in the pollination of certain flowers and crops.... but I assume that the one shot here is the kind that really disturbs a good night sleep.

"Pest" has a wide range of applications and includes both plants and animals. ;)

Is not an insect.
But a big pest to many.
