wow it's gone quiet! Must be a bit hard. It looks like some sort of tiny ring binder but it isn't. It does look pretty familiar though.

Sorry - nowhere near so far, although I can see how most of them could work.

Ok. A couple of clues...

I thought it might be too easy so I cheated and rotated it. It cannot really be rotated in reality (unless it is seriously damaged). Here is how it really is...



It is also not particularly macro in the sense of 'very small', but rather a close up of a part of something much larger it is actually quite large, and the scale of stacked chairs is probably about right.

I told you I didn't have much suitable :-)

It's amazing how much the orientation changes the appearance on this one.

I had no idea from the original posting, but the second with the true orientation suddenly looked like a car grill.
