A fish egg case, you know one of things that wash up on the beach, different species but at a guess dog fish (small shark?). I think they are called mermaid purses or something?

With the look of that is it a vampire shark? :)

We have no idea over here what type of sharks you get over there and they are not particularily prevalent over here - over here the most dangerous ones around this time of year are the loan sharks!

OK had a quick look on Google and you have a lot of sharks out there.  How about a Speartooth Shark or a Grey Nurse Shark?
