Taken walking through an alleyway near London Southbank.

One of my first outings with my new D-SLR. Saw the two well dressed women chatting outside an interesting entrance and a classic waiter carrying fresh bread rolls walking briskly by the scene.

Fubbling desperatley with camera settings for a camera I didn't quite know how to use - the shot came out very blurry!

If the women and scene were tack sharp and with some motion to the waiter, I feel this could have made a neat capture..!

Ronnie ...

Close, eh?

That indeed was close to a great "real life" capture. You said, "Fubbling desperatley with camera settings for a camera I didn't quite know how to use" If you are walking with camera...pre test a few shots ... set the camera every street or so, in case you have a chance encounter. If the light is poor and you'll be walking boost the ISO to 800 if you have to. You'll want the fastest shutter possible..say at least 1/250 second.

Good luck

Clive

I have no shortage of eagles in flight images, but have the darndest time getting a good one of them perched.

Went to Biggin Hill Airshow last weekend and got loads of good stuff but this would have been the icing on the cake great shot missed because I was panning the one in focus and as they cross quite quickly the shutter speed was not enough to get a good capture

will sort out some of the good stuff later on lots going on at the moment so no time to do pictures
