Show update ....
« on: February 14, 2010, 05:36:23 AM »
Warning. Shameless self promotion. ;)

Well my show is finally hanging in the gallery in our small-town library. Today, my wife and I hung 34 prints for a 6-week show. The prints are mainly scenery and wildlife all from southern Alberta. The main idea is to show off these pictures and to raise money for the library and Haiti...we are donating and selling prints for those causes. As previously posted, a few of the pictures are shown in this slide show:
http://clives.shawwebspace.ca/photos/view/our_southern_alberta/

You are all invited. ;)

Cheers!

Clive

Congrats on your exhibition and good to hear that you donate the profits for the good cause. Very noble idea. I am having some thoughts in that area as well but still 'under construction'.

Excellent choice of shots Clive.   A question, the duck... are they called Blue bills in your part of the world?  They are much the same as downunder...john

Thanks folks. Will see how it is going when we get home.

John .. that is a ruddy duck ... see here..
http://sdakotabirds.com/species/ruddy_duck_info.htm

Looks like your blue bill is the same genus as our ruddy duck....they are very similar....

Cheers

Re the duck - they've been trying to 'ethnically cleanse' it here and also in Spain. The naughty things have been 'taking advantage' of the white headed duck ;)  You know how it is. Some people think the name is apt ;)

Hope you've sold lots of stuff Clive! Sorry I couldn't make it - I can't swim as far as I used to.

Thanks for the kind words about the show. Apparenty is is going over well. I've no objections to killing animals per se, but trying to get rid of established introduced species is like taking cream out of coffee. Most difficult stuff. Here in Kauai hardly any of the plants and birds in the developed areas are native. At home, we have some introduced species, especially horticultural stuff--as do all places.  We have a few species of gamefish that we wished had not been brought in.
