Getting old is not so much fun
« on: July 07, 2012, 08:14:51 PM »
Three weeks ago I went to the optometrist so get my eyes checked for new glasses.  I was told that I needed glasses with prism in them to counteract double vision.  I was also told I needed to see an ophthalmologist because the pressures in my eyes were very high.  The ophthalmologist told me that I have glaucoma.  He started me on treatment for it.  Then last week I went to see my primary care physician.  He sent me out for some routine blood work.  After which I got a message from him that the numbers for my liver were very high and I should go have an abdominal CT scan.  Yesterday I had the CT scan done and in less than two hours later I received a phone call from my doctor's office saying he would like me to come in to talk with him.  I get there and he tells me a mass was found in my liver and that I need to have a biopsy done to try to find out what the mass is.

Thanks all for your thoughts. I go for the biopsy on Thursday. My a77 came today so I have that to occupy my mind for now.

I haven't been posting much lately as I've been having more tests and a second biopsy. Yesterday I was Informed that I have liver cancer. Right now they plan to do what they can to keep the tumor small while they evaluate to determine if I can be a candidate for a liver transplant.  I have all my heart disease working against me on this though.

It is easy for someone to just say that, but it was the only way to give courage and overcome this investigation time. There were days i wanted to ask how the processes is but i didn't want to remind you the situation.
My thoughts are with you and hopes for the best :)

Sorry to hear the news, but treatment these days is amazing.  It can be very hard, but keeping a positive mindset helps enormously.  Wishing you all the best.  As I turn 60 tomorrow, I wasn't very taken with the topic title!!  ;)
