preview picture zoom
« on: November 15, 2014, 04:42:05 PM »
I have a A6000. When i zoom into a picture, it zooms right in and I have to zoom back out to where i want, I find this annoying. Is there anyway of zooming in in increments, rather than, "Whollop" instant max zoom in.

What lens are you using? If it is a PZ lens, turn off the auto zoom and use manual zoom (If you can, I don't have any PZ lenses) or be careful to hold it steady as it auto zooms.

The auto zoom, if like all AF Sony and Minolta manual zoom lenses, will zoom out to infinity when first turned on. The PZ lens may do the same but it should then zoom to where you set it. (You turn a ring to zoom, do you not?).

When Minolta introduced the motorized zooms, they were not popular, but surely Sony has improved on the system!

Sorry, my explanation mustnt have been clear.

When previewing an image already taken.....when I press the button to zoom in, I am zoomed right in, and then i have to zoom out manually. Is there anyway of setting this in the options so I zoom in gradually?

I think he may mean in preview mode when zooming in to a picture to check sharpness. When you press the magnify to zoom in it goes to 100% and you have to zoom back out to suit how much you want to see. I may well b wrong so can you confirm this Owen. Unfortunately if it is in preview I'm not aware of any other options than fully zooming in then having to manually zoom back out. Hope others can be of assistance.

Firstly Welcome to the forum Owen.  Personally I am not familiar with the A6000 but can I recommend that you get hold of Gary Friedman's book on it which is available now.
Neither I/ nor the site gets anything from promoting his books but I think that you will find it well worth the money.  Look up Gary friedman a6000 and you should get the page......john

I am not at home to have a look at the camera but i think what Crhis82 said is right. All Sony camera zoom to 100% after pressing the magnification button. You may come from a different brand like Nikon where you have to press the button repeatedly to achieve the area you desire.
