It sounds like the camera is not registering that the lens is attached.  There are other threads on here about this topic but I am hopeless at finding things.  One of the moderators will point you in the right direction for past threads.

Something to check though, do you have the lens firmly clicked into place?  I presume that you have detached the lens and re-attached?  It sounds like you only have one lens but if you can borrow one and try that you will be able to determine if it is the lens or the camera...john

Just to add, if you can, go to a camera store, explain your situation, and ask if you can check with one of their lenses, if it works. If it says that there's an error, still, then the problem is with the camera. If there's no problem, then try the lens on other Konica Minolta / Sony cameras, if they say error, then there's a problem with the lens.

Usually, this error is associated with older Sigma lenses, not an 18-70mm lens. I assume it's a Sony 18-70mm lens.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the suggession.. Right now i have only one lens with me.. To add to the problem which i am facing... I am able to take the Pictures in Manual mode using the 18 - 70mm lens.. When turning the camera to Auto mode i am facing the error message.. Is there any setting which need to be done to make the lens work in Auto mode.. Or is this problem with the camera or lens..

Can you
turn the camera off
Detach and re-attach the lens making sure it clicks as you attach it
select auto mode
Turn on the camera

What happens?...john

Try also in the menu to find, there is a section that let you release the shutter without lens.

Set that setting and check if the camera work?

I checked the Camera with a local dealer and verified the camera with another lens. The camera is not detecting any lens. I guess there is some problem with the camera Body in detecting the lens. Now i am planning to return the camera back to the dealer.

Thanks you all for your support and suggesions...
