Thanks Stef... as always your input [and that of others ;) ] is appreciated :)

I did some further "pixel peeping" of the other shots tonight from both cameras and the lenses. I went a bit google eyed doing it - gave myself a headache - kidding ;)

Anyhow, I'm slightly embarrased to admit :-[ ... but not ashamed to :) ... that after doing the PP I am now seriously thinking that the problem is with at least two lenses; the Minolta 50/f1.7 and the "first" SAL1870 kit - these two definitely have FF problems on camera #1 --- BUT not camera #2 ???

It hasn't/doesn't help either by going from one camera shot to another - even wearing glasses [as I do :( ] - so I think I'll have to presently live with the "perceived" problem for now and hope my skills improve... or use camera #2 more now ;)

I'm sure the guys will sort me out when we meet up later all being well

Thanks again

I going to say for the rule the top is cam2 and the bottom is cam1.  Foe the owls the top is cam1 and the bottom is cam2.  Because you always have one that's darker than the other and in your other tests that has been cam1.

Hi Tom

On the point about the light/dark colour difference. I was reading another post - from Dr Theo; " Just received my a700 tonight", June 8th, http://www.dynaxdigital.com/index.php/topic,5712.0.html - and there is a mention regarding the firmware version. Bigbreakfast posted a couple of shots of before/after update and Dr Theo mentions one looks lighter than the other.

I've just checked cam #2 and that has version 1 firmware, cam #1 has v3. Doesn't back up what Dr Theo noticed but... now... should I update and do the tests again ???  Joking - honestly just joking ;)

Yes- in a nutshell- I would upgrade the firmware as there is a reason for the upgrade. Afterwards I would compare them again.
Good luck with it!

Well Stef... we're getting a bit tied up with different versions now ;) I decided to instal V3 to then come back here and find a new discussion about a version 4. Going to go for that as well but I'm not sure "I" will notice much difference between the 3 versions

Frank- I would be careful with version 4. Apparently this one is not tested yet. As said in the other thread I just realised that I had already version 3. Nearly installed it again...
