what about using the fs1200 adapter that allows you to use minolta flashes on iso shoes, i think that that may have a pc sync

Bill is there an official link now for downloading version 4? The old one from dyxum did not work this morning?
Stef.

Stef

Checking the SONY site for firmware updates they still show version 3... so no official update for version 4 ???

IF you are still having problems and don't get a "direct download" from the link I posted in the Firmware 4 thread then let me know and I'll email it direct to you.

Just checked that link I posted and it's a 404 error ??? Maybe it wasn't meant to be released yet ??? I still have it saved on my laptop so let me know if you still want to try it.

Did everybody spot that if you want Wireless Flash on the A900, you need a HVL-58AM as the 5600HS or HVL-56 can't act as a wireless controller on the A900.

I thought the A900 has some infrared light that can trigger wireless flashes? Are you saying you have to get one of thsoe flashes to mount them onto the camera???

I downloaded v. 4 and have had no problems on the a700 Stef.  I actually use ISO 3200 once in a while and I usually keep the noise setting at "normal".  I noticed an improvement with v. 4.  It also gives the option to turn off NR, but I can't quite see why I would, unless I can eliminate it better in PP.

you should be able to mount the receivers to the pc sync socket on the flash and use the transmiter with a hotshoe adapter seing as the transmitter just has the center "FIRE" contact

There aren't any 'pc sync sockets' on the 5600HSD or HVL-56AM - just KM/Sony's proprietary '4 pin sync plug' and 'external power plug'.
So as far as I can tell, either a special cable (4 pin proprietary to pc sync) or a hotshoe for the flash (which includes pc sync triggering) would be required (which I can't find either!)

Heres what I do with the Gadget Infinity cactus triggers:
FS1100 on the camera shoe with transmitter on top, at the flash end the receiver has a pc sync lead attatched to a 'copy' FS-1100 with pc sync port, on the 'copy' FS-1100 is a Minolta OC-1000 and this connects to the 5600hsd, which masters my sigma 500 wireless flash.

Otherwise I use the trigger and receivers for my Vivtars.

And yes, I too wish the shoes were standard as it would make it soo much easier to use triggering systems without all the hasle of adapter leads etc.  Or if Sony make a wireless commanda a la Nikon, then this would be a good move to keep people with the Sony/Minolta flash units.
