The interesting (previously unknown) spec is the 5fps!

I guess the Image Processors are upgrades to the A700's and using two to get the throughput. I think Canon do the same on their 1Dmark3's.  Note that the 1dsmark3 is also 5fps, so pretty impressive at 25MP.

AF looks very similar to the A700's.
I assume with a larger sensor it's easier to get better performance from AF? (hence why the Dynax 7 had better AF performance than the Dynax 7D).  Is that right?

I translated the page and it stated this is an advert for the October 2008 edition of National Geographic!!!

100% viewfinder and 0.74x mag.  D700: 95% and 0.72x mag.  D3:  100% and 0.7x mag.

Its not clear if it has: 9 point center dual-cross AF
                                        OR
9 point AF, center dual-cross AF.

Even if its one dual-cross AF sensor it must be match quicklier than the a700 AF speed.

One of our Australian guys posted the same advert on the DCRP (DCRESOURCE.COM), in the SONY DSLR Forum.  News breaks fast when people are looking.

Just need the darn camera, now.  LOL

I think it's going to be much cheaper than the Canon 1Dsmark3 but more expensive than the A700.
Other than that, keep guessing.....

I have had some 'inside information'...

The Sony Flagship is being launched on TUES 9th SEPT 14.00hrs UK TIME.

So just a few more days to wait, although if I remember when we first saw the A700 - we already had all the info that was published already! :)

Not sure where this date originally came from, but it's now been posted in a few places on the web.

I've also been told this date by a friend who works in a large camera chain store in the UK.  Whether this date is right or not is anyones guess :)

Na, I'm waiting for the A850 :)   I couldn't live without a pop-up flash. A small thing but I don't always want to be carrying my flash around with me. (I also use the camera for photographs of the family)

I'm waiting for the 'D700 clone' for half the price of the Nikon!  My excitement is partly because it's new technology, and partly it will give me an insight to what Sony have spent 2 years developing.
It will be really interesting to see how the D700, A900 and the new 5Dmark2 compare. I guess it's the D300, A700 and 40D shootout all over again!
