So what would you like to see
« on: September 09, 2008, 12:08:47 PM »
In the next model from Sony?

Heres my thoughts

1.   32+mp and full frame
2.   Aluminium chassis with brass top and bottom plates with fully weather sealed buttons.
3.   Shutter range of 60 seconds to 1/12000th
4.   +/- 5 Ev bracketing range with one button press ( press and release)activation
5.   100% Pentaprism viewfinder
6.   10fps frame rate (15 with additional battery grip)
7.   X-700 style shutter button with touch sensitive activation for metering and focussing
8.    Multi point eye selection a/f
9.   ISO 51,200

Getting ahead of ourselves? :D

I'm looking forward to seeing the a900 - I have an invitation to the official launch in Melbourne on thursday... there are a few features I really want to know about, as well as the priceline... I'm not ready to think about the model after just yet :D

I would like to see less mega pixels (uses less computer resources and less space on my hard drive) but better image quality with fantastic ISO performance. Something that will stay a dream for some time to be!

Less noise, much less, back to the 7/5d type thing. Less problems with reflections off the sensor, less problems with incedent light, basically turn the chip inside out so as the sensor is on the outside not the inside. Leave that mamal retiner behind put the receptors in the path of the incomming light not the wires.

An electronic blind (ie turning the sensor on and off), stuff all that moving mechanical stuff, it is out of date, not nearly as fast (1/300th flash sync, what is that doing still there), just put a switch in there somewhere.

I guess that would mean sony were first with a feature though.

Then a propper live view but still with the nice viewfinder. A new compression ratio for raw, even if it is lossless, to keep transfer rates up and file size down.

i will echo my previous thoughts on this

i want a 48mp non interchangeble lens SLR utilizing black hole technology
100% viewfinder
iso 1-7200 noise free
the single lens is a zoom from 12-1000mm f1.2 G with sharpness surpassing CZ primes, and the bokeh of the STF, a soft feature and macro
weighs in at no more then 38 ounces
when not zoomed the lens is only 3 inches long
scratch proof front element
rated for a 25 meter drop onto rocks
anti shake that will be able to handle being in rough weather on a boat, or riding in the back of a pickup across a cornfield
15 fps
movie mode
controls like the old 7d
weather proofed, infact good down to 45 meters underwater
pop up flash with the equivelent abilities of the new 58 flash
perfect auto WB
built in 500 GB solid state memory with expansion slots for 3 1000 gb memory chips of the new sony mini memory stick line

and the ability to do 3d imagery with the optional berillium catalyst filter

built in CPL
(thanks for reminding me)
all for $999.99
yeah that would be pretty sweet
The first step is admitting you have a problem.
