Title: Gary Friedman A900 book
Post by: dominicall on December 13, 2008, 06:56:21 AM
Just thought I'd put this up here as an FYI.  Gary Friedman is writing one of his great books for the A900 which will be available in Jan 09.

Frankly, if you need such a book, the a900 is probably too much camera for you... in fact it is such a straight forward camera that a book should not be needed at all...

I am still waiting for the book.  I had teh A700 book, and I do not think that it meant the A700 was 'too much camera for me'.  I had already been shooting with it for 6 months and I found the book to be handy for some shortcuts, quick tips and the wireless lighting section was helpful.  The main thing I hope to get from the A900 book is more on using the new flash system, and maybe to see if I can do my post work a little more efficiently.

Heard a rumour on another forum that the a900 book is available, might be worth checking out.

The only gadget that can be used without a written instruction is a poker - not to poke fires with, but to whack morons with.

Gary Fiedmans books are most helpful trying to reach the top. I have invested in three of them, and will most likely go for this new baby.

Print Version now available:

Volume 1 (http://www.lulu.com/content/paperback-book/the-complete-guide-to-sonys-alpha-900-dslr-vol-1-(color-edition)/6536367)
Volume 2 (http://www.lulu.com/content/paperback-book/the-complete-guide-to-sonys-alpha-900-dslr-vol-2-(color-edition)/6536591)

I usuallu prefer to get the print versions, and it does include the PDF for free, but OUCH!  This one is expensive, although compared to the camera and most of my lenses, not too bad.

*meh, I ordered it anyway.

Hi Dominic.

I may get this, but I have a training day at Sony in May to cover getting the best out of the A900 so I may hold off until after that and see if I think I still need it.

I may go for the A700 book though as I'm sure my wife will get use out of it even ifI don't.

Cheers

Mark

I just downloaded the a900/850 book. It is amazing. I am glad that someone like Gary has spent his time getting to know every feature of this camera, every trick, the best settings for specific situations. And after he has spent his time learning this camera, inside and out, he writes a long, detailed, easy to read book to SHARE with us. I will probably save up and get the actual book as soon as possible. It is worth the money. And I'm pretty sure anyone could learn something from this book, if he were so inclined!   ;>)     And thanks Gary!
