well if you want a free way to do this download the adobe dng converter

for windows http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4620
for mac       http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4619

it is a simple free program that will take your sony a850 arw raw files and convert them to adobe dng file format, no information will be lost, it is a loss less format and will be compatible with cs3 or if you ever upgrade to cs4, will work with most all adobe products.

i've use the sony software to open the RAW file. and when i open it to CS3, the file is as 'tiff'.
how can i open the file on CS3 as DNG from that sony software?

also, i try using the adobe DNG converter, the original RAW file was 36mb, when it converted to DNG, it drop to 15-16mb, to much loss of data quality.
