comparison A700 vs A900
« on: June 10, 2010, 04:46:11 AM »
Quite an interesting experiment but am not sure what to make of it...it's full of flaws: (1) upsizing images from the A700 never does it any good (2) comparing two different lenses is an interesting approach but doesn't give valuable conclusions (3) comparing Jpegs is not good either as the Jpegs from the A900 are better.

BUT it tempts me to try it out....

Um, that's a bizarre "test". Well, not a test, a comparison of two entirely different scenarios.
Still, interesting :)

Interesting but that poor A900, it must have been wondering what it had done wrong to have that attached to it ;)

Sounds like an ignorant tester.  I wont even call him/her an amateur, as amateurs take pride in doing things right.

Errrr ????

The conclusion appears to be that you get more detail resolution using 24Mp than 12Mp, which is not altogether surprising...

I'm not sure how to comment on this. It's not exactly a valuable test, but it does stimulate some thought. Nothing but the obvious thoughts come to mind, though.

If the tester went out and took some wonderful images with both rigs and asked us to pick the difference, that would be interesting, Hey Stef if you are tempted to try it out why not keep us guessing? :-)

I would like to perform some comparison tests between the 700 and 900. Could someone send me their 900 please?

Bizarre test indeed. One major flaw I see (as does Stef) is that he up-sizes the A700 images. Unless you use special software that is designed to do up-sizing, you will get very poor results. Even the special software such as On one Genuine Fractals (I think that is the one) does a better but not great job.
