Sony RRP UK price is £2100.

You can get it from Devon Cameras for £1900, and before you ask - they are in stock for next day delivery!

LOL! I just LOOKED at the website. I stick to my word that I want to see the first test results before committing. Also I do think there is some truth in the rumor that Sony will come out with an A800. I would prefer the specs of the A900 but with less pixels. Just printed some stuff in B+ size (13 by 19 inches) with the A700 and they are stunning. So for what do I need more pixels? For studio work perhaps- but due to my line of work I can shoot with the high end "enemies" should I really need to. Also I still use medium format equipment and get the stuff drum scanned.
So- no was just kidding- but knew some of you would react... nevertheless might happen any time... ;)

I was all for this ... until I realized that we are having a major market meltdown over here, in the states.  Timing is just terrible!

It looks like we are all on the hook for a ton-over-ton of moolah (700-Billion dollars)!  Until they decide how damaged our economy is ... I'm done buying anything  ... I'll just live with my A700 (when it gets back).  Maybe I'll get lucky ... and the A900 will drop another $500.

Personally, I still think marketing a FULL FRAME (VG + A900 + '58 Flash + two batts) KIT would be a kick idea for SONY.  Make it $3500 and call it done.

That market meltdown as it happens all over the world right now- also very badly in the UK (house prices are falling rapidly and they forecast another 15-20%)- might also influence the marketing strategies of Sony and they might realise that fair pricing might be crucial for selling their stuff.

What did the poor photographer say to the rich one?
I'll trade you my A200 and A700, for your A900 and we'll call it even.

I'm waiting for a second hand A900, so maybe Stef might pass her old one onto me for a reasonable price oneday ;)

Prices are dropping.... although it looks like you'll need to wait a month for the Play.com stock.

I guess this just means that the other stores currently have inflated prices while the stocks are low, as Play.com's price for the A700 is similar to WHE

Hmm the credit crunch is hitting us all, do we feel that once the A900 settles in, the A700 may drop in price? I haven't seen any evidence yet although it is perhaps too early to judge. What next? A DTLR camera (Digital Twin Lens Reflex)? Does the team think with the credit crunch, a slow down in bringing a newer model out could happen? As long as the world wants it, I suppose not. Will your existing lenses work or does it have to be the G series? O0

Any lens that has a large image circle will, that means any lens marked 'Minolta', or compatible with film cameras, or made for 'Full Frame Sensors' (including G lenses).

So what we are suggesting is that lenses originally built for 35mm SLR cameras should work pretty well? Minolta or otherwise. Providing the mount is correct. O0
