a900 Switching Off Noise
« on: February 11, 2010, 03:06:33 PM »
Since I got my a900 every time I switched off it makes a sound like this (Kkkkrrrrrrrr), nothing wrong with the machine it is working fine. But is this a normal noise when switching it off, majority of the time it has a lens on. The noise does not happen any other time only when switching it off.

Hopefully nothing wrong !!!

Hi Sarie,

If the noise lasts for a second or so its probably the internal sensor cleaning system vibrating.

I also tried my a380, it has the same sound more or less similar timing and noise (equal to its size and motor). It seems that it is a Sony Alpha thing. The a900 was bought in the USA, and the a380 in UAE. What are the chances that the two cameras have the same problem different supply quantity and geography (reseller/agent).

Its not a problem, its normal. Both my A200's do it. Its just the cleaning system.

In the case of the a900 and a850 the image stabilizer also adjusts itself on power on and off.
This occurs even if the SSS switch is off as it re-centers itself every time the power switch is used.
The cleaning mechanism also works on power on and off.

Sarie.

Whilst on this subject I have a question for you Sarie.........

What is the process you use while taking a picture using the SSS?
