Sorry to hear,
Other than claiming on your house insurance, or sending to Sony for repair (though will probably cost more than the camera) it will be a case of living with it.

I would certainly have it checked as you could have some internal alignment issue that now might appear on every shot. Pity to hear about your little accident though, it reminds me again to always remain careful.

Here's a relatively easy solution.

1. Claim it on the house insurance. You'll either get a cheque, or a replacement camera, or have it repaired. As the A200 is probably not available now they'll offer an equivalent. Stick to your guns and you should be able to get the next Sony Alpha up. (Probably an Alpha 230) or they'll repair it.

2. If they do that - offer to buy the broken one back off them. Offer something silly like £50. They'll probably go for it.

3. Sell your old knackered camera on EBay. (Make sure you describe it properly with its faults.)

I did exactly this with my PC. Old one "fell" down the stairs. Insurance wrote it off. Got me a top of the range one for £100 then got my broke one back and sold it for £75 on Ebay

Brand spanking new Quad Core, 1 Terrabit, surround sound, Plasma screen - £25 and an insurance claim..... if u don't ask u don't get ......

Sounds like there might be a lose fitting somewhere, that worked its way back into place.  I dropped my old Minolta film camera, twice, in two minutes (the only time I've ever dropped a camera). The pop-up flash broke, but nothing that a bit of sticky tape couldn't fix. It wasn't worth doing anything about, and it continued to work fine, anyway (still have it). With your A200, because of a possible fault and problems in the future, I'd go down the insurance replacement route.

Sony the200, Minolta 28mm 2.8, 50mm 1.4, 70-300mm Gregarious, 100mm 2.8 macro.
