Image Data Lightbox SR
« on: February 16, 2010, 02:08:00 PM »
Hello,

I'm new to the forums!  I recently purchased an a200 and am trying to learn as much as I can as far as shooting and then post-production.

I noticed one of the software programs that comes w/ the camera was Image Data Lightbox SR, and I didn't find any forum posts on this.  Does anyone use this program at all?  If so, what are your thoughts on it?  Or... do most of us in the forums prefer Photoshop?  Currently, I just discovered I can batch process on it since I can't on Image Data Converter SR V.2... or can I???

Looking forward to any helpful tips!

Thank you!
~Joey~

Joey- I do know that some people use this program to convert their raw files but most of us (me thinks ;) ) use some version of Photoshop (Elements/CS versions or Lightroom). IMHO it is absolutely worthwhile investing in one of the above and start the steep learning curve of getting used to them. There are tons of tutorials ot there and i.e. Elements is not expensive to get but will be a good investment in the long run.

Or try Raw Therapee  ... it's free and does the best job I've found on my Sony a900 raw files.

Just one more thought: you do need to look at some post-processing softwareat some point in time other than Raw Therapee. You might want to look at GIMP which is also free and there are more and more tutorials out there.

in addition and out of curiosity... PC or Mac preference?  I guess that's a whole other topic.  Just asking because I would think analyzing photos would also come down to your monitor, video card and printer quality, yes?  =)

I would assume most PP software is available in both OS's...
