Firmware upgrades?
« on: October 24, 2008, 12:12:07 PM »
I've been getting jealous of the A700 folks with their v4 upgrades and having less noise in their images. I've had a look on the KM website, but it seems there's no firmware upgrades for the 5d / Alpha Sweet. Anyone heard anything.

I'm not sure - but I think the engineers that designed your 5D, are either working for another camera company or Sony.  Either way I think we can assume that they'll be busy working on other products.  I think if you want a firmware upgrade for your 5D, you'll need to write it yourself :)

Alternatively you could always upgrade the hardware  :)

Save me a seat. Alternatively, if the rumours are true, I might be saving you a seat in the A800 room ;)

Blimey this thread is a slow burner!  I ended up getting the A700, being very disappointed with the noise levels even with the V4 update, then getting a nikon.  The D300 was in a different league entirely, which was fine until I saw what the D700 could do, so finally ended up with that and love it!
