They look very good but I think Sony should have read some of the forums. In camera effects are all very good but if I had 1p for every thread I read about using the A33/55 in a studio I would be a rich man.....

Hi all

I'm new to this forum, new to the A55 and new to this Sony firmware malarkey!

I need a wee bit of advice please. I'm running Win7, 64 bit and the firmware states that that this is not supported. Does this mean I can't use it? Being paranoid as the camera has already been returned to the shop twice thanks to a duff lens cap followed by a duff battery so don't want to duff up the firmware before I get a chance to use it.

Thanks in advance

You need to go to a support site and download the version for Windows 7 64 bit. If you go here you will find it on the US support site.

In the instructions for updating the firmware, it says to use the provided USB cable and if an XP user, you have to have Service Pack 3. I don't know what I did with that cable, and rarely use XP, I'm a Linux user primarily. How important are these requirements?
