Dust problem A77
« on: July 31, 2014, 03:09:04 AM »
I have taken the lens off and used a bulb to blow out the dust. I used the sensor cleaning function. I also popped up the mirror and blew that out. I can not see any specs on the mirror or the sensor. These spots show up with any lens I have tried. Any other suggestions before I send it in?

Using a brush often will not get rid of all the dust. If you have pollen or anything that was damp when it got on to your sensor it will need to be remove using a Sensor Clear type cleaner. The a77 is not prone to dust on the sensor due to the mirror never moving out of the light path. It can happen, but usually it gets caught by the mirror.

It may be dust in your lenses, although that is even rarer than above.

Jeff,

After owning the 77 for a year, I noticed a few spots on the mirror. I did not try to clean it due to the thin material so I just replaced it. I can't remember the cost now but it was not silly money and solved the problem instantly. I cleaned my sensor at the same time just for good measure.

Thanks for the replies! I think I may get a couple extra mirrors. Dave did you replace the mirror yourself?
