Should I be saving up for this? Is this the top model now in the Sony stable or will there became replacement of other full frame models?

I think the A7RII is still the top model. At least I think that is what Sony really want. This new A99II is only an attempt to placate A mount users. Lots of pros have already moved to the A7RII.

Thanks for the link and the response. Guess I was kinda hoping to cling onto A mount rather than go E mount. Just not sure where A is going, if anywhere.

I am heading off to collect my A6300 with the SEL18200LE this morning.  This is to be my walkabout camera and the A99 will remain my main camera.
The Sony guys here tell me that the A99 replacement is not being released in Australia and New Zealand so the future is clear I think (well at least in this country)
We have upwards of 100 members in our local camera club and, doing a straw poll, the mirrorless are being bought more often than the big full frame cameras.   Olympus, Pentax, Sony, Fuji

The camera is a a77 body with FF sensor. Even the battery grip is from a77. A very well balance camera but two expensive.I agree with Charles that most professional moved to a7rii. AF-D is gone. I love this feature on a99 and hope the new combine AF system will be reliable because i see also some restriction... with lens.... and shooting situation.

Lets wait for the first review and see how better this camera is over the  a99.

Some of the specs of the a99II and there functionality. From Sony PDF brochure

-Fast AF/AE tracking*1 at up to 12 fps*2

Hybrid Phase Detection AF to afford continuous shooting
at up to 12fps*2 with full AF/AE Tracking*1.
12fps
*1 The supported focus area will depend on the shooting mode and lens used. Furthermore, when
“Continuous Shooting: Hi+” is selected, focus will be fixed at the first frame shot when Hybrid Phase
Detection AF is active at aperture settings of F9 or higher, or when Hybrid Phase Detection AF is not
active at aperture settings of F4 or higher.
*2 Continuous shooting mode set to "Hi+"[/i]

-Enhanced spot metering Bright monitoring

The spot exposure metering position
can be linked to the focus area when
the Flexible Spot or Expand Flexible
Spot mode is in use. You also have a
choice of Standard or Large metering
spot size for optimum exposure with
the widest range of subjects.

-ISO AUTO Min. shutter speed

This function sets the shutter speed
above which ISO sensitivity will begin
to change when the camera mode is
set to “P” or “A” and “ISO AUTO” is selected.
The ability to specify a low ISO
AUTO limit can help minimize subject
blur when shooting moving subjects

I saw a video on youtupe where you can move autofocus points from PDAF to on sensor PDAF just with the move of the joy stick this is very good both system they will work together when lens and shooting situation allowed. For me is a great camera and have to wait and see the final price :)

Basically the a99ii AF will work like on a99 with more coverage area and from 399 AF points the 323 will be selectable. By a99 the 99 AF points were not selectable

I am wondering if i use the a99ii and a77ii with 300g + converter 2x

With a77ii i have 900mm with 24 mp Raw

With a99II i have also 900mm but 18 mp Raw ( crop mode)

Both set will use only the 79 PDAF points. Even on a99ii the 399 af points will not be available  when using the teleconvertrers like they did on a99 you could not use the 99 af points. So at the end same results with less money if i stay with a77ii combination.

Is it worth the investment in a camera like the a99ii ?

I cannot speak for you, or any others considering the A99II. We really have to wait for thorough hands-on reviews by known professionals (Not some guy on facebook who may have an agenda). All I can say is I do not intend to buy an A99II at any price, unless the aforementioned reviews show tremendous improvement over the A99. As it looks right now it is essentially only an A77II with a full frame sensor squeezed in and possibly a few additional AF points, and how long have we had to wait for this? I will stay with my A7 + A77 and also ignore the A7II or the A7RII. For the obscene $$$ that Sony now want for a new camera, I want more.

With the A900/850 and probably the A99II + 300mm + the Minolta x2 TC you lose AF. I have found this to be only a minor inconvenience. Perhaps with the newer Sony x2 TC you will get AF, but I think not.

For me the reverse is true - I am seriously considering the A99II, because it looks like it represents a significant step up from my A900, and I am hoping that the new higher resolution EVF, and flicker free options, will mean I am happy for it as my main camera.

The A99 was good - but not enough of a step up to outweigh the disadvantages (loss of A900 OVF clarity, switch of hot shoe and memory cards, cost).

There are also now lot's of good options for 3rd party MIS flash units, which also helps.

Jonathan, you will not be disappointed with the A99II.  I resisted the EVF for years holding onto my A700 but once you go EVF you will never go back.
Seems a strange thing to say but trust me the articulated screen and focus peaking on the A99 (and the II) are the two must haves- once you settle in you will wonder how the rest of the population cling to OVF...john

I'm thinking the A99II will be MORE of an advance over the A99 than the A77II was over the A77... and the A77II is SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER than the A77.
There are people who actually think LENS stabilization is better than sensor shifting!
