The SD Card must be formatted in camera after the camera is set to mass storage. The formatting sets the necessary Sony Files and folders. Do not format the SD card in a computer as the camera will not be able to write to it. This applies to all Sony Alpha cameras including F.F, APSC, A-mount and FE-mount. Sony supplies a program that allows Windows, IOS etc to read Sony RAW files.

BTW, this is an old post dating back to August 10, 2009. We haven't had this problem in almost 8 years. :D

Even the best point and shoot digital camera sometimes have this issue. From my experience, it always starts on the SD card.

Other Photography Equipment / Re: Please recommend ball mount

I'm currently using a Sirui k-30x ballhead. I had been using a borrowed one for about 8 months and found it to be really rather well made and once setup properly for the amount of tension i wanted it easily holds my camera solidly even with the 70-400mm G lens. I ended up buying one myself as i was very impressed with it. Holds rock solid and  great value at £130.

I'm sure there are better out there but at the price i find this suits my photography perfectly. I use it in conjunction with a L bracket on my camera body and obviously the tripod mount on the longer lenses.

Update
Bummer! No facility in the camera settings to alter sharpness so have to do it the slow way on the computer.

Not sure if you are referring to stills or video here.

For stills you alter sharpening by adjusting the Creative Style.
This is from my A6000, but I believe the A6500 should be similar

Select creative Styles, then choose the style you want from the column on the left - once you have navigated to it, use the right button to edit the Contrast, Saturation or Sharpness for the style.style

If you want an invaluable resource, check this out:

Gary Friedman in my opinion is THE best author of 3rd party owners manuals in the business.

His books cover each and every single feature of the cameras in GREAT detail, and are extremely well written and easy to understand.

His ebooks are available in multiple formats for any mobile device and are excellent for any photographer from the fresh beginner to the seasoned professional.

Gary is also available via email to answer ANY question you might have about gear or technique. I can vouch for the fact that he DOES read and answer his emails... and if HE doesn't know the answer to your question, he will find someone who does.

Finally, Gary offers a 2week satisfaction or your money back guarantee so give him a try.

ENJOY your new camera!!!

I've not used the Minolta 85mm f/1.4, but I LOVE the CZ version.

You're right; the Minolta AF glass DOES tend to be "warmer" than the modern Sony and Zeiss versions... even when the lenses have the SAME Optical formula.

Minolta Colors... EXCELLENT.

^^^Have you tried the CZ 85mm f/1.4? If so, how would you compare the performance of the two?

I've not tried the CZ - Those who have compared them on Dyxum rate both highly, with the Minolta having a 'warmer' tone, but the CZ having perhaps a touch better micro contrast (so it looks a touch sharper).
I think the consensus is that you will be very happy with either, and that there is an element of personal choice as to which is better.

I`ve been more than satisfied with the 70-210 3.5-4.5 I got from a local shop. It`s razor sharp from 5.6 up.

looking on ebay they don`t turn up often whereas the 4.5-5.6 are plentiful.
