I hope some others will get back to posting images. In the mean time another from the fair.

Very nice analysis! In this case the bench was one of the ones in the shade and it was a hot day.

Well to me an interesting image if it isn't just a straight portrait is one that invites your eye to move around within it. I think the girl draws attention because she is in focus but the colorful shirt invites the eye to explore other parts of the image as well. My thought anyway.

Agreed, and the fact that the boy is looking in a different direction to everyone else adds a question to the viewer - what has he seen?

There is, however, quite a lot of bright colour in the background - so perhaps a bit of selective desaturation might work to help you control how the viewer was drawn though the image - one where the eye has a distinct 'path' generally works better than one where your viewpoint jumps about from place to place.

The 'story' of the image changes quite dramatically depending on having both or just the man in green.

With just the man in green, it would suggest an isolation of the old, but with the two of them there, despite there being no interaction between them, the 'story' becomes one of a common purpose - the bench is a place for all to sit and think - isolated but together.

Please do not fall off the bench but I do not have any real suggestions !!!!

I agree with Jonathan's comments though.

If you really want the guy in the blue jeans and striped shirt gone it is not too difficult a task in Photoshop...john

I would like to have just had the man in green on the bench but the other guy didn't move while I was watching.

Like this one, the light is soft enough that you've avoided any harsh shadows under the hats, you'v held the highlights enough to still see the details of shape in the older mans hat.

Not sure if this was a 'fleeting moment', or if they were both sat fairly still - if the latter, then delaying a tiny bit would have had the man in the black / white check shirt move so he was separated from the man in green (he only needs to take a couple of steps), and the man in the blue / white striped shirt separated from the blue post.

It's a minor niggle though, as neither particularly detract from the image, as the depth of field gives good separation between them and the main subjects.
