Wow i have never experienced such cold. Gosh we are in extremes. Here in the middleast during peak july august it gets to 48°C-50°C. hot as hell!

We all go thru ups and downs. We sell equipment in times we need the finance or sometimes to upgrade for better etc.


I would like if you could share 1 lens you regret selling and would love to have it back?


For me i regret selling my Minolta APO AF 80-200 f2.8 High Speed. Wish i had it back to use on the A77. Miss that sharpness and noisy yet super fast focus.

I have read the article. explains well. Regarding the Front Curtain ON. Does it affect only image of old minolta lenses or old third party (ie tamron sigma tokina) as well?

I sold my A700 and some lenses and now have the A77.

Lens line up is simple

Sony 16-50 f2.8 SSM- (walk around)
Sigma 50 f1.4 HSM- (portrait)
Sony 30 f2.8 macro
Sigma 70-200 f2.8 EX APO IF (action & night)

am saving up for an Sony 70-200 G and Rokinon 85mm 1.4 some day :)

both the SAM 85 and Samyang 85 have top reviews by users. i plan to get the Samyang in future.

The SAM will give you AF and Samyang is manual. But keep in mind that the samyung being 1.4 is pulling in four times the light as SAM 2.8

Bredatn, i used to have the Tam 17-50 as my main lens when i had an A700. The lens was very sharp, descent IQ, color but it was  noisy and built was cheap plastic. The noisy AF is def not what you want if your going the SLT route in future.

The CZ 16-80 is a very good lens with great reviews, sharp, super IQ. Is not a fast lens but has good zoom reach. IMHO its build quality isn't great and the price does not justify that. Being CZ i expected better.

Finally i would suggest to look into the latest Sony 16-50 2.8 SSM. I got this lens a couple of months ago with my A77. Its built quality is super. Dust and Moisture proof. Its very sharp, super IQ, SSM is quite (good for video or stills inside churches) and its a fast 2.8 lens. This lens was made for the high MP sensor cameras of sony. Its value for its price.

Hello everyone. Am new to the Dynax digital forum.

Around 2 months ago i upgraded from my trusty A700 to a A77. Am very happy with the upgrade as the A77 is an awesome camera in so many ways.

My question- On the menu there is an option for front curtain shutter on/ off. Would anyone share with me what is it? and what are the advantages/ disadvantages of having the front curtain shutter on and off. Thank you.
