News and Announcements / Re: Jessops in administration

Rob - I got a message from my camera club today sent to all members in case anyone was in the same boat:

Do You have un-used Jessops Gift vouchers still?

On BBC Breakfast this morning they mentioned that if anyone has Jessops vouchers or gift cards and the person who bought them paid by Debit or Credit Card that the person can get their money back.

But there are time limits, so you will have to be quick.

Pass this information on if you know anyone who this could help

- Hopefully it helps! Good luck

I was wary of posting a link to mine - it's a lot of money to spend on a recommendation but if you are interested the price was £661 plus £10 postage from Panomoz These are grey imports too but sold from the Uk so no risk of the vat man at a port having an opinion like Digitalrev. There are some worrying reviews of the store on one website but the website mods demonstrated that these we malicious. There is an option to pay by bank transfer and save a further £33 but I would prefer to have the protection of a credit card. (all went swimmingly for me!)

I've been missing in action from here for ages - trying new things like infrared photography and a little teaching - but today my new A77 arrived. My A700 is still working fine but it is 4 1/2 years old and the price of the A77 is now more affordable. I paid £690 - grey import -  including postage and a 16GB extreme pro sandisk UDMA card. I hope to get £250 for my A700 - sniff its on fleabay already - and I am flogging a few 'under used' lenses. I am hoping I can get £200-300 for those so the hole in my bank account won't be too bad. I am looking forward to trying video, manual focus becoming a doddle with the assist tools (I have those M42 lenses I rarely use), being able to hold the camera near the ground without getting muddy using the articulated LCD and on and on and on. I'm quite excited actually!

We had a week away in a Holiday Park/ Campsite - called believe it or not 'Sandyballs' (only in England!)

It's in an area called the New Forest, a beautiful natural area with horses and deer running wild, so I took my camera.

The first couple were taken when we came across some Travellers riding their horses into a river after a long ride out

F8 1/125 ISO 200 135mm

F8 1/60 ISO 200 at 100mm

The last was taken at the campsite or a performer brought in to entertain us. 1/500 f6.3 ISO 400 at 70mm

botanists, botanists, everywhere I look...... :-)

Thanks for the constructive feedback. I'm afraid I fell for trying to fit the picture to a print size rather than crop for what works best.
