Scented Threesom
« on: February 21, 2010, 06:11:08 PM »
I'm trying to make some wall art to be given as part of my mums upcoming 55th birthday.

I've been playing with the below for a few hours and cannot work out which one I like the most. I intend to either print on mounted A3 or a piece of white A3 sized acrylic.

C+C would be greatful.

Rgds,
Dave

Hi Dave, I like the idea of these but think if it was me I'd print on three canvases. I'd also use a version with just smoke in all three. This is what I had in mind on your mums wall

Bigbreakfast,

I really like how you have done that. My original idea was to have them all on one print in a thick wooden frame. I wanted to then drill out three small holes and place incense stick brass holders. On the bottom of the frame I wanted to router out a dovetail that a tray could be attached to to catch the ash from the sticks.

Hope that makes sense :) I do really like what you did with the picture, the drop shadow is very nice.

Cheers for the input an idea.

Dave

Version two for me, although they are both very good. But Two is by far the best for me ;)

Dave, can you recolour?  I like the balance of smoke on the second one and the last one you have reworked but the balance of colour is off.  Could the middle one be pink with the violet and mauve flanking it?....john

Hi John, yeah I can change the colours and am thankful for all comments. I'll give it a go and see how I get on.

Thanks everyone,
Dave

The second version would be my choice if set as a collection, but on a singular shot the middle one in shot one will be my choice due to the color coordination.

Version 2- definitely for e. I prefer having three backgrounds of the same colour- I find this calmer and mroe elegant- if that makes sense. I would though perhaps loose the cigarette or incent or whatever it is in the middle image. If it is then too short you can transform this layer and stretch it so that the fume is the same length as the other ones. Just my two pennies...

P.S. VERY nice idea!

Now I don't wish to come across as a bit of an arse, but threesom is spelled threesome. It wouldn't be as bad as a wrongly spelled tattoo, but even so...

:) Steve no probs, I wanted to spell it that way to be a bit 'odd'

Hi Dave,

I love these! Great work.

My take would be to drop the text for a more contemporary look and as the coloured smoke swirls are so wonderfully fabulous, I would crop out the stick as bigbreakfast showed already.

I would suggest number two as being my favorite (version 2).  I like how all the backgrounds are the same color I also like how Bigbreakfast suggested to split them up into three individuals.

Stunning work none the less!
