Help with these please
« on: April 22, 2010, 03:04:59 PM »
Ok my girlfriend has asked me to do some pictures of her and her mothers horse for a birthday present.

I they turned out ok on the day even with some over cast weather.

Problem is now we cant agree on which to use.

I'm looking at them from a artistic viewpoint and trying to find the best pose hence why i prefer this one:

She like this one due to him holding his head nice, but i think the pictrues spoilt by the lack of the bottom of his legs and ass:

Others we have to go with are as follows:

This will need alot of work to remove the fence and cars from the background.

Nice but no real 'oomph' too it.

This is the first one i've processed and for the life of me cant get the greem right on the grass, so not too happy with it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I prefer the first shot, personally but if your girlfriend likes the way he has his head in the second shot, why not crop it to a head and shoulders shot? ;)

Thats one of the options, but it will loose alot of the detail so wont be suitable for the rpinting size she is thinking of.

Is there an option to go back and try for some more shots now you have a better idea of what she is looking for?

It could delay things, but it might mean you get a shot you are both happy with.

Since only first and fourth ones shows the entire horse, and the first has been ruled out (even though I due to much more suitable background prefer that one) my suggestion has to be number four.

Unless there is another one with a background similar to the first one?

Depending on your abilities to blur or replace the background number four may turn out OK. Good luck

Or give a really bad shot in a little print, with a card promising a better one later :-)

I should have said, the background on the first is very much what you see in the rest of them, i just spent alot of time cloning it out.

Most of you if not all seem to be thinking what i am that the first is the best one.

What to do to convince her ;p

On the other hand, if she (the gift receiver) likes one of the others better it is totally unimportant what the remaining part of the world means. Isn't it?

Crop no 4 and clone in a bit more tail at the bottom so you have a bit more border to "play" with, then using polygonol tool around the grass or even try the magic wand or similar if not using cs3etc.then lighten/darken etc.the grass /use curves/etc.to get the shade of grass you want.Hope it works out for you whichever image you use--good luck.

Tough call. I sort of like this idea, " ... give a really bad shot in a little print, with a card promising a better one later" Okay not a "bad" one, but on her actual BD, give her one of these and tell her you are not pleased as you wanted HER in the picture as well. Then (when you are there on her BD) shoot some "head and shoulders" shots of your MIL and her horse together? People love to be with their fave "pets." She'd be all over this. See these examples...

Of those ones, I'd prefer the first one, as the background looks much less cluttered and less distracting.
JapanesePhotos.Asia; Some basic photographic how to's.
Sony the200, Minolta 28mm 2.8, 50mm 1.4, 70-300mm Gregarious, 100mm 2.8 macro.
