So My aunt Gave me a Suit Case full Of goodies and now I have NO Idea what to do with it all. The Maxxum 9000 is working but i have no idea how to use it and to be honest I already Have a Canon Rebel DSLR so I really have no need to go back to film. I was thinking of Selling the 200mm APO G TELE which should produce ~$1000 ... and maybe then purchasing a Sony but I Dont Know which one and I certainly have no idea of the value that i now have obtained. ANY SUGGESTIONS????

1 Konica Minolta Maxxum 9000 Film Camera with rechargeable battery
1 Konica Minolta Maxxum Program Back 90
1 Konica Minolta Maxxum AF 24/2.8 lens
1 Konica Minolta Maxxum AF 50/1.4 lens
1 Konica Minolta Maxxum AF 100/2.8 Macro Lens
1 Konica Minolta Maxxum AF 200/2.8 High Speed APO G TELE lens
1 Konica Minolta Maxxum AF 75-300/4.5-5.6 Lens
1 Konica Minolta Maxxum Flash 4000AF High Powered
1 Konica Minolta Maxxum Wireless Camera Controller IR-1(n) Set
+ tons of filters, caps, hoods and more

The film bodies won't attract big prices, nor the flash or wireless controller (they're not compatible with the DSLRs).

The lenses are all compatible though. As you say, the 200/2.8 is the highlight, though the 100/2.8 Macro is a great lens, and the 50/1.4 very nice too. The 28mm is a decent performer with a decent reputation - really only the 75-300 is unlikely to get any kind of return. Ball park you'd be able to fetch maybe $2000.

Of course, the other option is to buy a sony alpha. That's what I'd do (depending how much investment you have in Canon lenses etc)

(moving this to the Other photography equipment board, as it's not about the a100, 7D or 5D :))

I sure wish I could have started my transition to Sony DSLR with this stellar collection of Minolta primes ! My suggestion would be to pick up one of the rapidly vanishing Sony A700's probably on ebay for ~ 700-800$

whatever you do, do NOT sell the 100 and the 200.

they are the best, if not among the best, that there is out there.

I am typing this from my wife's laptop in the hospital.  My head has been wrapped in a bandage in such a way that I can only see out of one eye.  There is a hole by my nose and one by my mouth just big enough for a small spoon so I can eat.

I will be back home in a few days, after the dizziness goes away.

I fell while reading this first post standing up.  The unbelievable thought of selling the primes made me a bit woozy and down I went.  Luckily my wife and kids arrived home within hours and the bloody wound had clotted enough that I was alive.  By the time the ambulance arrived I was actually a bit coherent, but as they were lifting me onto the gurnee, one of the EMTs happened to see this post on my computer screen.  He dropped me and the wound was reopened.  Thankfully, he was not injured badly and had the sense to tell the other EMT not to look towards the screen.

At that point, my wife quickly shut off the monitor.

When I arrived at the hospital, I was whisked into intensive care while the EMTs briefed the doctor.  When the doctor arrived to see me, his first question was not about my wound, but rather about the lenses.  He seemed VERY interested in the fact that the EMTs told him about the poster mentioning prices in US Dollars.

Strangely, he paid a visit to my wife at our house after I had been sedated.  My wife said he had asked to see the computer desk and that he said he wanted to get a better idea of just what had happened to me.  She asked him to leave.

I really think that perhaps our first poster should be banned.  If not, I may not survive.

Agreed.  Buy an α700 and you're all set.  Unless of course the Zeiss bug bites you.  Then you'll need to sell some lenses (or blood) to till you can afford the Zeiss glass.

But whatever you do, keep the 100mm and 200mm primes.

Cheers,
Tyler

I agree with all the others, sell your canon and buy a Sony DSLR.  Even if you do not want to sell the canon straight off, buy a Sony body and evaluate the quality of the glass you have been given.. Then sell the Canon !!....john
