How to take close up pictures (micro-shots) with Steady Shot DSC-W610?
Can not find such a function on this camera.
Can this camera take close ups?
How close?

Thanks.

Hi Vicky.  My reading of the manual on line says "Yes"there is an auto macro function.  I did not delve deeper into the operation but you should be able to find it in your manual....john

Thank you.

I found it just a few hours ago that it automatically comes on when the camera is close to an object, a flower on the viewing screen.  But, this function works only on wide angle.

Thanks.

Macro is a whole genre of photography where you have to balance your F stop exposure for depth of field and the amount of light you need.  Good luck with it and show us some of your work....john

When you say wide angle would I be right in understanding that it will not let you zoom in on the subject you want to shoot?

I've got a Samsung Galaxy Camera (just for a pocket camera when I'm not able to take the Sony a700 or a77 + lenses) and this only allows Macro in 'wide angle' --- no zoom ability --- and I have to get as close as I can to take the shot. The same applies if I wanted to use the 'Panorama' setting on the Galaxy :(
