Its funny this subject has had life injected into it again.

Last week I was talking to a good friend who had shot a wedding for her cousin. Kit wise all good, Canon 60D, nice lenses etc etc. Unfortunately she only had two 16GB cards and one corrupted. Effectively loosing all the pictures from the first part of the day.

We managed to get about 40% of the pictures back using RescuePro Deluxe but that left most of the images lost and a number of the recovered images unusable as they had lines through them....

Well sell her an A99... dual slots so slot 2 can be a backup for slot 1... much less chance of 2 cards going corrupt..

Hah hah true but with the investment she has in lenses I would think a 5D would be more her cuppa

I use a 16 GB and 8 GB Sandisk Extreme Pro 95MB/s cards for my A77.

Me too, plus a 32  and 4 gig Extreme Pro, a pair of 8 Gig Kingstons and a 2 GB SanDisk Ultimate.

I've had Lexar and (a 64 GB) Transcend cards that failed... I won't buy those brands again. >:(

For my a77 I use a 32 GB SDHC (95MB/s) and for my A500 I use a 64 GB SDXC and a 4 GB memory stick.
This is what i like about my old A500, just slide the switch for an extra memory card slot. I wish I have that in my A77.
For me it depends on how often you transfer images from your card to your PC or Mac.
I transfer my images right after using my camera since I shoot RAW so the 32 GB gets filled up quickly.
Enough for me would mean not having to back up for at least 3 photo events.

I have a 64gb and 32gb card. Somewhere I also have an 8gb and 4gb card. I use the 64gb card most the time. I do fear the card malfunctioning but they sure are convenient. I have near filled the 64gb card many times during a days shooting when working but never close when out on my own time. As someone mentioned earlier best not to totally fill your cards and I always format the card in camera after each time I download the images from it. I never remove the card with the camera on and always the safe to remove USB function on my PC before removing card from here.  I only use Sandisk cards these days but used Adata CF cards when I had my A700 and never had a problem with these either. You are better with too much memory than not enough. Be careful if you buy cards from Ebay as many are not the genuine thing but cheap Chinese copies.
