Very interesting forum Stef, I just spent the best part of an hour following threads, it's exciting to think that there is a full frame Nex in the works.
Mark, frankly I am not interested in a full frame Nex. I assume that a full frame Nex will be bigger than the Nex 5. I bought it as a replacement for all the compact cameras that I own as I was never happy with the results from all of them. As said before, i.e. the Canon G10 can give you very good results, but you need to put quite a bit of work into the post-processing to get the best out of this camera. Furthermore it will never be able to compete with a dSLR. The Nex does. It does give me astonishing good images- on par with the A700.
With the kit lens the camera is not as small as my G10 but still small enough to slip it into my coat pocket. Also if you take the lens of, it is just about the size of a pack of cigarettes and it does not take space up in my camera bad as a back up to my A900. I have no quandries whatsoever re th image quality of th Nex camera- frankly I was pretty surprised to see howgood this little camera performs.
Some people say that using the Nex camera with i.e. a 70-200G lens might be very tricky because of the relationship between the little body and the long lens. This is only partially true. Once you use a tripod, there will be no problem whatsoever. Shooting with a very long lens would require some kind of tripod anyhow. I do believe that handling the Nex with a Sony lens and adapter is more about getting used to it than it is really a problem.
At the end of the day- it does what I want it to do: it shoots very nice images and the icing of the cake is that the videos are quite usable. Nevertheless, the next full frame for me will be the replcaement of the A900.
