It finally arrived
« on: March 11, 2012, 04:44:24 PM »
Hi all,

I just received the NEX7 camera with a kit lens, Friday. Boy is it small! It is a gift for my wife who feels the A77 is too big and too heavy of a camera for her. So, it is my hope that she will enjoy the smaller size and lighter weight of the NEX.

I snagged the camera from the UPS man and charged up the battery. A quick note, the battery was depleted and when inserted in the camera, there was insufficient juice to turn on the camera. So I fully charged the battery and made sure that it would power up the camera. The camera focuses fairly quickly; however, not as quick as a Panasonic GH2. Definitely not as quick as the A77. So, I am unsure how well it would work out for taking pictures of small birds and animals. But its light weight and small size makes it the perfect vacation camera.

Like wise. Mine had the battery fully depleted. It is a different beast all to itself. And you are absolutely right, the camera is not an A77 by any means.

One of the main things that has me confused is that not every lens is OSS. I have been researching for when I have funds for the 24mm but looking at it, is not OSS. I believe the macro and the 16mm are not. So it is going to be very interesting trying to decide how to build a set of lenses.

But camera looks fantastic. Now the manual is something not to write about (it is passed in the form of an e-book).

Go figure....
