Finally decided on travel camera
« on: July 22, 2015, 09:29:04 AM »
After a long time of reviewing many cameras I finally made a decision and bought a travel camera. It is not what I thought I would end up buying. I have my A99 and bag full of Zeiss and G lenses but was leaving it in my hotel more than I should have because of its value and weight. I'm on another visit to my wife's family in Thailand and decided if I left my kit at home I'd be forced to make a decision and purchase a travel camera. Arriving here coincided with the release of a few new Sony cameras such as the RX 10 mkll. I had looked at other brands such as Panasonic and Fuji who make some great cameras to compete with the RX 10. When I held the RX 10 I realized I was not going to achieve what I wanted as it is still bulky and requires a reasonable size bag and if I was going to carry it and rather have the A99 with superior IQ. I bought instead something I hadn't contemplated, the RX100 mklll. Perfect as it slips into my pocket yet still takes great pics. I have realized I will always travel in future with my A99 kit but can happily leave it in my room when my day is not concentrated on photography and just slip my RX100 into my pocket. I looked at the new RX100 mklV but most the upgrades are for video so for me not worth the extra coin. I already love the RX100 and will post pics at first opportunity
Buying a Nikon doesn’t make you a photographer. It makes you a Nikon owner.

Sounds like a worthwhile buy already. I have no experience of using the camera but have read glowing reviews ever since the first version was announced. Enjoy the new toy and post some pics.
