there are a lot of rumours that the next nex firmware will support af on sam and ssm lenses

I know this post is old.. But I have the NEX-VG10E its a camcorder with interchangable lenses, I use an adaptor to fit my SAL 70-400mm lens. it can change into a camera with AF. i've not had it long, but it does take nice pics. this one was taken in a horrible day, but I was struck by the sunbeams..

Not bad at all Geo, considering that it has been shot with a video camera! Love the light rays.

Just to update this old thread. The Sony LA-EA2 adapter auto-focusses with most A type lenses (Sony or Minolta).

Hi, I have a Nex 3 bought second hand and I set it up to show the outline of things in bright red as they came into focus... that was great when I used legacy lenses and simple adaptors. However as my letter in this weeks Amateur Photographer [7th January Edition page 13] warns.. you have to be careful using vintage lenses and particularly bellows on digital cameras. I managed to combine a vintage lens old bellows and a long exposure [so the sensor was open to any thing that fell onto it for a long time] while doing Macro shots of Orchids compounded even furteh as I was shooting up under them. Result a very dirty sensor and a lot of careful cleaning. One tiip I use on my Minolta 7D and Nex.. is to point at the ground with no cap or lens on and "excercise" the camera through some fast then long exposures.. so any dust and debri is shaken out of the camera, then I do the cameras "sensor cleaning " routines.
The letter in AP also states the case for my idea [though not the only one to suggest this] for a 35mm film roll sized gadget that is a digital sensor and memory card thsaty uses Bluetooth or USB to send digital images from a film camera straight to your PC....
