A7 in my hands
« on: April 24, 2014, 06:43:37 PM »
Last night a friend of mine visited me. In his hand he was holding an A7 with 28-70.

The camera is really very small. Next to Nex6 not much difference except the viewfinder that is sitting on the top.

Do I liked the A7. No not at all. The reasons are.

-Very minor difference in high ISO
-Ergonomics I find Nex6 much better, the Custom C2 very difficult to press. You get more custom but very difficult to use.If you really thing about ergonomics the a7 is not the camera. Buy better an a77.
-Autofocus speed the same
-No build in flash
-You pay 3 times the price of a Nex6 to get what?
-You buy a Nex for compact and you buy SLR/SLT for functionality

I am really not impressed by the a7. maybe I am the only one who say this but this is how I feel the camera in my hands.

Thanks for the review Rex.  We always value reviews by one of us over those who may be paid to say nice things.....john

In a few weeks i am getting the Sel 70-200G f4. This lens with a Nex coabale body will give same if not better results than A77 with SAL 70-200G.

The main benefit using the right lens with the right mount is the AF fuctionality and the advantage of not loosing 1/3 of light from the translucent mirror from the LA2/4 adapter.

I don't see any reason for someone buy mirroless system and then add the LA2/4 .As you know i already have the 70-200G f2.8 but i think the SEL 70-200G with the AF system from a6000 will be a better combination.

In a few weeks i will be able to make a proper test of these combinations A77 with SAL 70-200G f2.8 vs a6000 & SEL 70-200G f4.
