While the votes are still being counted, I just wanted to reflect on what a good job ISO has done putting together a really interesting & successful challenge.

'Feathered Friends' was a great choice of theme, and attracted (on my count) 58 serious entries, which were inspiring and interesting in their variation -  representing different types of bird from around the world, and lots of different photographic styles. I found it a joy to open this thread each time a new entry was posted.

It also attracted some hilarious joke entries - Mr Finch's self portrait, Sprint16v's roast and Baldy's wooden bird come to mind.

I think the rules ISO laid out have fostered a good challenge, where even mug amateurs like me feel comfortable submitting entries, and where real quality is attracted too. I did not envy his task in picking the finalists!

And congratulations to the finalists - all worthy of winning - Alibarber, Akshaw Jamwal, rrox and Clive. I can't wait to hear who wins!

Hear Hear!!

Thank you ISO3200 for a project well lead and of course for your choice to include my pic in the finalists.
There are many excellent images in there, so I'm proudly chuffed to have my "feathers plucked" for further consideration.

yep, I agree. Certainly makes my job running this forum a lot easier with people like ISO to organise things like that.

Thanks for the kind words.

That was my first competition and it'll probably be my last, I'm afraid.

I may as well say it now; I'm kind of leaving photography behind for a while. I'm not buying a huge Nikon kit or any of what I planned. My photography is currently on the back-burner and doesn't warrant much of my time or money at the moment.

I therefore won't be turning up at this forum very often and can't qualify as a moderator any longer, especially as I'm not following Sony's progress with interest.

I'm sure you'll manage without me. Clive's new competition looks every bit as good.

A shame to hear that ISO, another valued member leaves the community. I hope you still pop in once in a while and still find time to take a few photos now and then :)

Looks like I need another new moderator.......

sorry to hear that ISO,

I hope photography is moving onto the backburner because of lots of good things happening in your life...

it would have been hard to keep interested once you'd moved to Nikon, but I imagine moving away from photography for the time being makes it near impossible to stay motivated.

keep in touch :)

Don't worry, all is well; if not better than ever. Also becuase I will be buying a D200 and not owning any Sony it' fair to say I've no business being here!

I'm not deleting my account or anything and will still pop in.
