Congratulations Chris82.

It was a tricky challenge to vote on this time, as there were a number of very different images to compare.

Like Rex, I personally preferred Waterfall to Autumn Reflections - I did like Autumn Reflections, but felt is was a little too 'head on' - making a number of the posts (all of them in the left had row) merge, which reduced it's impact for me.

I particularly liked Cholly's Sunsets, 'Pelicans...' being my favourite of them in terms of this challenge.

I was one of those that voted for the eventual winner as my 1st place selection.

I thought the framing, balance, and content were perfect. And the theme... the reflective properties of water... was extremely well done.

I also voted for other images for other places. I really liked Rex's 3rd showing the droplets of water; that took a good degree of technical expertise and execution to pull off successfully and he did. I also liked Faldraxs' first entry, "About to blow", showing TWO phases of water... liquid and steam...  well lit, perfectly framed composition.

Alans' 3rd image... another study of reflections... was also beautifully captured. And Franks' 4th entry showing the dabbling duck represented water as a habitat that provides sustenance and safety.

I thought the entries all had merit, both artistically and from a technical point of view... and the winner was the pick of the bunch. ;)

Good to see folks now expressing a "why" as we all learn from this.  I have been involved with the local camera club now for 7 years and we have monthly competitions.
It is interesting listening to the judges comments and, of course, listening to fellow members dis-agree with the judge when chatting to each other over supper.
For those of you who have not experienced this, I personally have had two instances where I did not agree with the judge (not awarding me any award) and re-entered in a later competition to get a first.
There are also instances where an awarded entry is  put into an interclub and passed over.
It is very much a personal preference and also what other entries yours is competing with.....john

Agreed - I think it makes it more interesting, and that the variation in opinions will help encourage more people to enter, as it shows that it is not a 'one horse race'.

... re-entered in a later competition ...
