Mini Competition: *Independence Day*
« on: July 03, 2006, 10:11:26 PM »
I'm not an American, I'm English, but I feel the American Independence Day is an important part of world history that few people outside of America appreciate.

It's also a perfect excuse to throw out another competition! Just a mini one...

I'll run this for a week from the 4th July.

Post images of Independence Day if you're an American, or other sparkly events if you're not; Guy Fawkes? Whatever. I have a few firework images I'm sure. I'd like to see yours.

No rules or image limits. Just fun. Especially for those who don't do birds.

Sometimes if people have a topic to follow they'll post more readily... I hope!

I call this one the 'palm tree'

I'm sure you've much better stuff than this tot...

Well,

Yesterday was the 4th here.  I shoot film and had to get developed.  I MAY post tomorrow, but due to the death of my film scanner, I will have to try to scan the print on a flatbed scanner.  If an acceptable image can be found, I will post (although I won't win!).

I tried soon after getting the camera in nov 05 - but without the zoom lens, nothing great.
Previous ones that looked good were on a fuji...
If I dig 'em up would they be acceptible?

I've never shot fireworks, which I suppose is shameful since every Diwali (Hindu festival) India's skies light up like no other. I should try it this year.

It was raining this year, and while we had fireworks to a backdrop of lightning, I didn't have anything to cover my camera with...
No umbrella, no unused trash bags, etc... so I did't get any shots...

Give me at least a month before I start taking chances with my new camera. It's not a NIKON after all...

:D

My 7D got soaked in the rain; it survived. But do be careful.

OOPS!!!  Some how never even saw this challenge. Took my first fireworks pics this year. From my backyard. Was quite impressed, except for the tree and power lines. ;)  Will get some of flickr, and post, though very late.
