Sony FA-HS1AM
« on: March 19, 2016, 11:49:59 PM »
Bought one off eBay as starting to do more studio work.  As found that the trigger I have only works with certain receivers/lights in the studio.  So if I was not the only person in the studio I would be limited to the lights my trigger could work with.
When the HS1AM arrived the battery was flat so fitted a new one and tried it with one of my flash guns.  Fires the flash off fine.
At the studio when using their trigger with it cannot get it to fire the studio flashes.  The trigger works fine on other camera's.

Am I better off buying a cheap Minolta fs-1100 hotshoe adapter clone.  I did have a FS-1100 years ago which I sold after trying a trigger in a studio which caused camera to lock up.  As when shot film I used Dynax 9 and 700si in studio using pc-sync cable.  Then when started with digital the Minolta PCT-100 adapter.

I do not know (and too lazy to look it up) what flash mount the A580 has but I got caught out assuming the standard ISO mount would work on my A99.  Apparently it does not contact all the points.

On Dave's (Vaughag) recommendation I bought a pair of pixel Opas I use with my studio lights and the convertor from Minolta to Sony ISO mount on the camera.
Because they are transmitter/receivers, if I have a playmate I just swap the  transmitter for the receiver on the lights and the playmate can use the Minolta to standard mount.

The A580 has the Minolta iISO hotshoe.

Managed to get a proper Minolta FS-1100 off the dreaded ebay which will try next time I go to the studio.
