Sigma EF-530 DG Super Electronic Flash
« on: October 11, 2010, 07:11:24 PM »
I've just picked a couple of these flash guns through Amazon, the purpose is for use externally when needed, they seemed to have what seems to me the right features for wireless shooting. Have any one used them before, if so, what are your thoughts on the equipment.

I am thinking to use this in combination with my Sony HVL-F58AM, light stands and hot shoe to trigger, although the extra shoes are not needed.

The above is the link to the Sigma web page for the flash.

I have one of those, it works fine, consistent, and trouble free. I have a HVL58 too and as you know it is easier to change angle and orientation.  I got mine on Amazon and think was under $200. Nice and lightweight.

Thank you marindave, but I noticed that when using normal batteries with these flash guns, they take a lot of time to refresh between each firing, unfortunately that's the only batteries I had available at that time. it runs approx. between 15 to 20 seconds of refresh time. Is that normal?

I just put mine on the camera and goes as fast as I can press the shutter...  I have Duracells in if that helps.
