Changing Channel on 3600HS flash
« on: February 19, 2010, 09:24:54 PM »
I recently purchased the HVL-F58Am flash to be my main flash.  I have been using the Minolta 3600HS on my A700.  I went to use the 3600 as my off camera per the instructions.  Well of course it didn't work because I realized that my WL channel was set to Channel 2.  How do I switch it over to Channel one or should I just swtich the 58 over to Channel 2 - which I think I'll try now that it popped into my brain.

Anyway - any help on this matter would be great.

Thanks

Interesting..., The 3600 works fine when I use the pop up flash but now when the 58 is on the camera.  And changing the channel on the 58 didn't rectify the issue either.

Thanks for the reference to the manual and I was able to change the channels - great.  Still can't get my 3600 to work as the off camera flash.  It will work as off camera with the pop-up but still not with the F58.  I'm sure its me and I'm missing something - that or the 3600 doesn't work with the 58?  Is that possible.  I would think the technology would have been made so they could be compatible?

You have to switch the F58AM to CTRL2 mode in order to trigger F56AM or F36AM (or Minolta equivalent).

Start from p.74

Thanks for that link ot the manual.  I've been using my manual as well and I switched over to Ctrl 2 but that didn't work.  But hey the 3600 runs true with the popup - so there is a disconnect between the 58 and the 3600.  Obviously I have a setting wrong on the 58 because it's not working.  The steps seem simple enough in the process but I know I'm off a step or two in the setup somewhere that I have either missed or is one of those unstated steps that I haven't figured out.

I'm getting info that it won't work (the 3600) with the 58 on the A700 that only the 900 supports older flashes.  You'd think they'd do a firmware upgrade for that but I'm sure it would cost them more than it is worth.
