maxxum 7 and old flash/trigger for strobes
« on: May 28, 2005, 08:34:41 AM »
i just bought a wireless triger for my strobes (universal mount with center pin, like the old old flashes mounted in fs-1100 into the camera) and when i put the the camera in manual at speed slower than 1/200, press the shutter nothing happens. when i put the sync cable in to connect the body with the trigger it works, is my camera defective?

have you tried changing the flash mode to "wireless"? I don't think that it will fire off the hotshoe without it being in wireless mode....

No your camera isn?t broken it?s looking for an old Minolta flash (the shoe adaptor is designed for use with older Minolta TTL flashes), what you need is to is use the PC terminal on the side of your camera. You will need to get an adaptor from PC to hot shoe. If you look on the side of you camera there is a small round silver plug (hole) on the Dynax/Maxxum 7 it under a small screw on cap, on the  Dynax/Maxxum 7 D it under a rubber cap. I have used it several times to set off old non Minolta flashes and studio kit. What I ended up doing was getting a cheap flash bracket attaching it to the bottom of my camera and placing the pc to hot shoe adaptor just to keep things tidy.
