Lastolite Ezybox and Sony Flash
« on: July 22, 2011, 01:40:20 PM »
Hello.
This is my first post here, so here goes.
I have just bought a Lastolite Ezybox 24" by 24" with its Hotshoe bracket included and I want to attach any of my Sony Flashes f42, f56 f58 to the bracket and use it wirelessly with my Minolta Dynax 7D. Having sent for the flash adapter 0133 from Flashzebra on advice, I found that on attaching the adaptor the wireless function is cancelled. So, although the adapter attaches to the Ezybox bracket, it disables the flash. Since I now know that wireless function of the Sony flash is disabled by way of a tiny button on the flases being depressed as the adapter is attached, I now need an adapter with a grove or notch to accommodate this tiny button. I know I could use the standard hotshoe stand which is OK, but I need a solid way of attching the stand onto the ezybox bracket. I hope this makes sense.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Gareth.

Hi the problem with the building flash system is it needs a direct line of sight. you have 2 options ....

1 you can use a wireless trigger and shoot everything manually
2 you and use an of shoe cable

Hello,
I'm aware of the limitations of the wireless system, but will suffice for the time being. My problem is attaching the sony flash shoe to the ezybox bracket.
Cheers Gareth

The table stand that comes with the Sony flashes has a threaded hole on the bottom for attaching to brackets. The stand should have cutouts in them to avoid depressing the tiny button under the flash. Only some old 30 series flashes has a tiny stand that lacks the screw thread. eBay has third party stands but most of them don't fit very well. I manage to find couple of old 40 series H shape stands since I find they work better than the folding stand that comes with the 58AM.

Thanks,
My problem is that I'm happy with the Sony foot stands with the thread but I need something with a long enough screw to attach the foot to the ezybox bracket. I thought that some member might have encountered the very same problem and found an'elegant' solution!

Thanks Ronin,
I just want to attach the flash foot to the ezybox bracket..
The Sony equivalent to the Minolta you mentioned is the Sony FA-CS1AM which at £39 is a bit much for experimenting.
Cheers Gareth
