F60M and CyberSync triggers
« on: October 30, 2014, 02:00:05 AM »
Hey everyone! I have been using Paul C Buff's CyberSync triggers to fire my OCF for a few years now, on a variety of Sony/Minolta flashes, and I use them because of their range and the relative instability of IR for what I do. Right now I'm using my 58's for OCF work, but I would like to use my 60 since it has a little better control of the output power. Problem is, the thing won't fire. I use a CSRB for the receiver into a Minolta style hotshoe from FlashZebra, and I use Sony's hotshoe adapter to mount the 60 on my rig. There's a disconnect somewhere, obviously, but I can't find it. My 58's have faithfully fired for more weddings and portrait sessions than I can count, but this 60 hasn't fired once. Any ideas?

It would appear that no one has any ideas on your problem Luke. :(

So it would seem. I haven't had the time to really dig into it, but if I figure it out I'll post the solution here. I understand the power of the new hot shoe, but man, I'm not sure I'm a fan of this one either. :-)

Sorry to ignore you Luke but I cannot help.  I use a pair of pixel opas (recommended by Dave) to fire my strobes and my 58.  now have a 20M with the new connector.
Is there any way that you can borrow or try a 20M to see if it is the foot or the 60 flash?   john

Hey John! No worries. I've actually replaced the shoe on the 60, it fell victim to the broken lock syndrome. It wouldn't fire with the old shoe, and won't with the new either.
