Adapter for Minolta 5400HS
« on: February 26, 2015, 04:06:43 AM »
Is there a way I can use my Minolta 5400 HS flash with my new SLT A58K?

If so I will be doing my happy dance!

Welcome Trolleyguy.
My A99 came with an adaptor to fit the A99 Sony ISO shoe and mount either old flashes or Sony mount flash triggers.
I believe the Sony one is called the  Sony ADP-MAA Shoe Adapter .
You can look it up on the net.  The genuine ones are selling here in Oz for ~$34.  You can probably get Chinese knock offs cheaper....john

Congrats on your new purchase.

Not fully. The 5400HS uses only the old fashioned analogue communication protocol with the Sony digital cameras don't use. You may get it to flash with a basic foot converter, but you won't get TTL.

If in doubt, see M. Hohner's flash guide at http://www.mhohner.de/sony-minolta/flashes.php?ov=1
