A77 to HVL-43M Wireless triggers
« on: April 18, 2014, 08:35:29 PM »
I have an A77 plus the HVL-43M flash unit.

I know I can fire the flash unit wireless using the pop-up flash, but does anyone know anyway/setup to use triggers instead as I would like to add to my 2 studio lights as well as using it on its own.

Any ideas would be great.

There are many ways.  Have a look on here for triggers.  Dave (vauhag) had a nice review of the pixel opas which I bought on his recommendation.  They are great.
You ought to be able to put your studio flashes onto "slave" and they will fire when they detect a flash.
I use 1 pixel opas set to "transmit" (they work as transmitters or receivers) utop the A99 and the other on "receive"on one light.  The other two lights are set to slave and all there fire.
I have also mounted my 58AM on one the receiver and set all three studios to "slave" and then all 4 fire.

Hope this helps but do search on here- Stef helped me a lot when I was starting out with flash triggers.  I have a couple of optical slaves that you can attach to your flash as well and thses work too if the flash is in the line of fire. .......john

A set that I know works and fits the a99 would be handy at first

I have a pair of pixel opas .  The transmitter needs the A99 hotshoe converter but my A58AM works fine on the receiver.  No TTL of course - manual only.
Dave or Rex may comment as I think the pixel kings will give you TTL...john

Funny that someone else posted this so I am jumping on as well. I am also looking for triggers to shoot with the HVL-43m off camera when using the A77 (original) or the A99.

I purchased pocketwizard plus X and a couple of adapters. Manual flash only. I need to still get an adapter for the A77 to be able to use the Plus X trigger on that one. I also have the HVL-58am flash.

I hooked up the A99 & the HVL-58 and that worked great. Tried to trigger the 43m of the A99 and it was a no go. :(

Thoughts? Are there any adapters out there that I could use for the 43m to hook up the pocketwizard and fire off camera?
